Perhaps you have gotten your student a”written composition” as an evaluation? I can’t say I’ve. I get quizzes every year in my high school students and they’re never”written” in the traditional sense of the term. Most high school students think they are doing something good when they request to compose an essay, but what they really do is providing their advice to another student in hopes of getting a passing grade. In a recent conversation with my professor, I discovered a few very interesting things about our classroom methods and methods to improve them.
A written composition is not an award winning piece of literature, so it is irrelevant how much your student’s grades are. The objective of this lesson is to demonstrate the student is able to think independently, and develop their own opinion and express themselves in a clear and concise manner. The article is an chance for the student to get up on their toes, display their creativity and intellect, and learn how to convey and create arguments. A written essay should be more of a dialog, but it is still a written essay.
This means you have a bit of control on what the student submits. Do not be worried if the student doesn’t understand how to use all the correct grammar and punctuation because the professor will catch mistakes before they are corrected. Everything you have to be concerned with are paragraph structure, writing style, grammar and punctuation. If a pupil is unable to comprehend or use the information supplied, there is not any point in giving them the article. Once the student submits the article, you have the duty to grade it or request the student to rewrite it with correct essay terminology, sentence structure, and punctuation.
One other important thing to remember is that an article should not be all information, but it also needs to need to be interesting and provide the student with insight, opinion, or questions they need answered. Give the article a brief introduction and then go into detail about this issue, giving supporting evidence, example cases, along with other intriguing facts about the subject. Repeat the introduction several times, especially in the first paragraph, because it provides the reader a flavor of the type of essay you’ll be writing. Then you need to elaborate on that in the next paragraph. Each paragraph should answer the question posed at the introduction.
Finally, do not forget to finish the written composition on a great note! You can always informal outline method have the student write a brief conclusion to the article, as well as a thank you. The end is where most of the communication between student and writer occurs.
